Astronaut Saluting Next to American Flag on the Moon

An astronaut in a full spacesuit stands on a bumpy lunar surface and gives a salute with one hand raised to the helmet. The other arm reaches out to hold the edge of a large American flag, which has wavy stripes and a box of small stars in the corner. The astronaut wears a bulky backpack with an antenna on top, a chest panel with little bars, a belt, a thigh pocket, a tool hanging at the leg, and chunky boots. A small Earth floats in the sky above, and the ground has craters and little ridges. Kids could color the stripes red and white and the star box blue, then leave the suit white or add pale gray shading. It also works well for talking about the moon landing and what the flag stands for. Print a few copies for a patriotic holiday table.
