Baby Chick in a Straw Nest Inside a Bow-Topped Egg

A big egg with a polka dot bow on top has its door swung wide open, and a smiling baby chick sits inside on a cozy nest of straw. The chick has big round eyes, a pointed beak and a few fluffy feathers on its chest. The open door on the left has a little ring handle, and the opening is edged with a border of small circles. The bow is covered in dots of different sizes, and a dark shadowy area fills the top of the inside. Try coloring the egg in pastel stripes, then use bright yellow for the chick and warm golden browns for the straw. Kids can also practice small, careful strokes on all the circles around the opening. It is a free page that works well for a spring classroom or a quiet afternoon at home.
