Dust flies as a young player dives headfirst toward home plate, one arm stretched out and a determined grin on his face. He has on a batting helmet and a baseball uniform. Right next to him the catcher crouches in a mask, chest protector, and shin guards, reaching with a big mitt for the tag, while the umpire in a face mask leans forward with hands on his knees to see the call. Kids cheer from a covered dugout and the stands in the background, and you'll also find a chain-link fence, tall stadium lights, leafy trees, puffy clouds, and a bright sun. Grass tufts and small stones are scattered over the dirt. There's lots of detail here for older kids and big spaces for younger ones, and it's a free printable. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the big sky area sky blue, leaving the clouds white, then fill the trees and bushes with leafy green.
- 2Fill the dirt areas, including the infield ground and mounds, with tan, and color the grass patches bright green.
- 3Color the umpire's shirt sky blue and his pants charcoal gray, then fill the catcher's helmet and pads with royal blue.
- 4Color the runner's helmet bright red and the skin on his face, hands and arms peach, keeping his shirt white.
- 5Color the runner's legs and shoes light gray, the catcher's mitt chocolate brown, and the catcher's shoes charcoal gray; leave home plate white.
- 6Optional: add a little darker gray shading under the umpire's pants and along the dirt edges to add depth.
