Campfire Marshmallows and a Baby Dragon, a How to Train Your Dragon Page

Coloring guide
Sitting on a log in a pom-pom beanie and hooded sweatshirt, a smiling boy holds a stick with a flaming marshmallow over a crackling campfire. Next to him, a friendly young dragon with curved horns, a frilly head fin, small wings and a curling tail watches the fire with big curious eyes. Rounded stones ring the fire. Behind the pair there's a pitched tent, tall pine trees, tufts of grass and a night sky scattered with stars and dots. There are lots of open spaces for kids to color, plus small details like the boot laces and the dragon's frill for extra practice. Oranges, reds and yellows fit the flames, and soft greens or purples will make the dragon glow in the firelight. Print it free for a quiet, creative moment. - 1Start with the big background: fill the pine trees on both sides and the small tree behind the tent with forest green, then color the grass patches with light green and leaf green.
- 2Color the tent in amber, with its front panel in orange, and fill the boy's jeans and pants with navy blue.
- 3Paint the dragon's body, head, tail and feet in red, then add orange to its frills and golden yellow to its horns and wings, with pale yellow on its belly.
- 4Color the boy's beanie, hoodie and sleeves in bright blue, his hair and the logs in brown, his face and hands in peach, and the rocks in gray.
- 5Fill the campfire with orange, golden yellow in the center, and leave the marshmallow white. Keep the dragon's eye shine white.
- 6Optional: add a slightly darker shade of each color along one side of the logs, rocks and dragon belly to give them a bit of depth.
