Chester grins with one hand on his hip and the other held out palm up. His name, CHESTER, is written in big outlined letters along the bottom, so kids can color that in as well. He wears a tall floppy jester hat with two dangling bells that have little faces, one scowling and one winking. Two more face-bells hang at his knees. He also has a ruffled collar, a sunburst-style badge on his chest, short puffy sleeves, suspenders, cuffed boots and a toothy, mischievous smile. No background means plenty of white space for kids to fill with their own ideas. Purple and orange could go on the hat and pants, with bright yellow for the badge and bells. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big red overall pants and the tomato red suspender straps, filling each section evenly.
- 2Color the blue shirt, the blue overall bib and the blue boots with cobalt blue, leaving the small bell highlights for later.
- 3Fill the face, neck, arms and hands with peach skin, then add the chestnut brown hair, side tufts and the brown cape over the shoulder.
- 4Paint the big jester hat tips with cobalt blue and tomato red, then add the golden yellow hat band and the golden yellow skull bells.
- 5Color the golden yellow title CHESTER and the cuffs, belt and boot bands, keeping the eye whites, teeth and small shine spots white.
- 6Optional: Add a slightly darker shade of each color along one side of the pants, shirt and hat for a bit of depth.
