Chiaotzu Standing in Hat and Robe With Open Hands

A small, pale character with pointed ears stands with both hands held out to the sides, palms open, and looks down with narrowed, heavy-lidded eyes and a deep frown. He wears a round cap with a wide dark band, a small star badge on the front and a knob on top. A dark vest with a big circle on the belly sits over puffy light sleeves, and the circle holds a Chinese character. A scalloped collar-like shape sits under his chin, and his baggy pants and flat shoes finish the outfit. This looks like Chiaotzu from Dragon Ball Z. The black band, vest and star give you big solid areas to fill, so try deep blue or black for the vest and a bright color for the circle so the character stands out. It is also a nice chance to talk about how the symbol is written.
