Child and Dog Sledding Down a Snowy Hill

A smiling child in a striped baseball-style cap with ear flaps sits on a sled and races downhill, with a happy spaniel-type dog tucked in front. The dog has its tongue out and long ears blowing back, and it wears a plaid sweater. The child's long fringed scarf streams out behind in the wind, and chunky striped mittens grip the sled's steering bar. Both of the child's boots stick out in front. Behind them, smooth rolling hills and two pine trees fill the background. The big open shapes on the coat, scarf, and sled are easy for younger kids to fill in. Try coloring the plaid sweater and scarf stripes in bright, contrasting colors, then talk about how the wind seems to push the scarf and the dog's ears backward. A free printable like this one works well for a winter afternoon at home or a quick classroom activity.
