A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big fan feathers: color the outer and middle fan feathers in golden yellow, pumpkin orange, and brick red, alternating them so the tail looks warm and lively.
- 2Fill the chest and both wings with warm tan, then color the large round body in chestnut brown.
- 3Color the head, neck, and beak in golden yellow and tan as shown, and add the brick red wattle under the beak.
- 4Paint the two legs and feet in golden yellow, then add amber orange stripes around the ankles.
- 5Color the fall leaves: the left oak leaf in pumpkin orange, the right maple leaf in brick red, and the small leaf at the bottom in golden yellow.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading on the brown body and the edges of the fan feathers for depth, and keep the eye whites and background white.
