Fence-Jumping Dog Chasing a Spotted Butterfly

A big dog with floppy ears and a collar leaps over a wooden fence, front paws tucked up and tail curled behind it. Its mouth is open, and it seems to be watching a butterfly with spotted wings fluttering just ahead. Below the fence on the left sits a doghouse with a striped roof and an arched doorway, and a bone peeks up near the bottom of the page. A tree with puffy leaves stands at the left, a spiky sun fills the upper right corner, and tufts of grass and small flowers sit near the fence. The fence boards and shapes are large enough for younger kids to handle. Try coloring the butterfly's wing spots in different bright shades, then pick a favorite dog coat color and talk about how it would look in real life. This printable page also works well for a quick lesson on outdoor animals and backyard pets.
