Sailboat Family Watching 4th of July Fireworks
Coloring guide
A family of four sits together in a small sailboat on a calm lake, waving up at fireworks filling the sky. Dad, mom and two kids are all smiling, and the kids have life jackets on. A tall triangular sail with a little flag rises behind them. Evergreen trees and rolling hills line the shore, and starry bursts of different sizes light up the night above. The water below ripples with reflections of the fireworks and even the family's faces, which gives little artists plenty of detail to work on. Deep navy and purple make a good sky, with bright red, gold and blue fireworks that pop. Grab the free PDF and print it at home for an easy afternoon activity. This fits right in with our 4th of July coloring pages — see also Happy Birthday and Spring.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the lake and its reflections with light blue, adding bright blue ripples near the bottom of the page and leaving the thin wavy lines white.
- 2Fill the mountains behind the trees with bright blue, then color the pine trees and bushes on both sides with forest green and lime green.
- 3Color the firework bursts: golden yellow centers, navy blue and copper rays, and leave the small stars and outlines white.
- 4Paint the flag and the man's shirt red, the children's life vests sky blue, and the faces and raised arms peach.
- 5Color the boat's sail and hull white, then add a little steel blue to the lake reflections near the boat.
- 6Optional: add a few darker navy blue strokes along the lake edges and the mountain bases for depth.
