Standing Fire-Breathing Dragon for How to Train Your Dragon Fans

Coloring guide
This large dragon rears up on two legs, wings spread wide, and blows a long feathery stream of fire off to the left. Curved horns top its head, and its snout has a little bump like a nostril ring, plus a toothy grin. Square scales form a grid across the belly, which looks nice next to the smooth wing panels. One clawed hand rests on its stomach while the other arm lifts beside a wing. The pointed tail tip curls up on the right, and small spikes run down the neck and back. Nothing sits behind it, so your child can focus on the dragon. Oranges, reds and yellows work for the flames, and deep green or purple for the body, with a lighter shade saved for the checkered belly. This free printable is handy for any slow afternoon. - red
- golden yellow
- coral red
- dark red
- cream white

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill both big wing membranes with tangerine orange, leaving the thin wing bones unpainted for now.
- 2Color the wing bones and the thick wing finger lines dark red, and the outer wing edges and the top of the right wing red.
- 3Fill the belly scale pattern with golden yellow, leaving the small grid lines and the white fringe on the chest as white paper.
- 4Color the head, neck, body, arms, legs and long tail red, then paint the mouth area and the back spines coral red.
- 5Add amber to the shoulder, and leave the top head spikes, the horn tips and the claws cream white.
- 6Optional: add a few darker red strokes along the lower parts of the body and tail to give them a little depth.
