Coach Explaining a Play to Young American Football Players
Coloring guide
A coach in a baseball cap and polo, with a whistle around his neck, smiles and points at his clipboard while three young players in helmets and shoulder pads lean in to listen. On the clipboard you'll spot a play diagram with X marks, circles and curved arrows. A goalpost, some bushes and grass tufts show up behind the group. Two players are drawn from the side so their face masks show, and the third is seen from behind. Helmets, jerseys and the clipboard are large enough for small hands, and the diagram gives careful colorers something to chew on. Blue or red works well for jerseys and helmets, with yellow for the goalpost to make it stand out. Just print it at home and settle in. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the coach's cap, polo shirt, and all the players' jerseys with royal blue, leaving the white cuffs and collar edges alone.
- 2Color the coach's shorts in khaki and the grass on both sides in light green, adding medium green to the bushes and the goal post area.
- 3Color the coach's face, hands, arms, and the players' faces and arms in light peach and caramel tan, keeping the eye whites and the coach's smile white.
- 4Color the football stripes and the helmet stripes in bright blue, then fill the coach's hair in dark brown and the whistle, clipboard clip, and helmet ear cups in light gray.
- 5Keep the helmet shells, the white panels of the football, and the clipboard paper white, then add the small shine on the left helmet.
- 6Optional: add a few darker forest green strokes in the grass and under the players to give the picture a little depth.
