In a backyard building site, a smiling tracked robot with a rectangular screen face uses its long jointed crane arm to lift a big wooden beam on a hook and strap. The wooden frame of a small house under construction rises behind it, with a ladder leaning on the side and a stack of lumber close by. You'll also find a cement mixer, a wheelbarrow filled with sand or gravel, and several traffic cones around the yard. A fence, a leafy tree, a little house, faraway mountains and puffy clouds fill the background. Large shapes mixed with small details make it a fit for a range of ages. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the sky: color the two top clouds pale blue and the distant mountains sky blue, leaving the rest of the sky white.
- 2Fill the trees, bushes and hedges with lime green and leaf green, adding mint green to the small grassy bushes.
- 3Paint the robot's body, its crane arm and the top of the crane in sunny yellow, and color the treads and tracks charcoal gray.
- 4Color the logs and house frame in wood brown and sandy tan, and the ground in sandy tan. Keep the robot's face screen and the cone stripes white.
- 5Give the cement mixer drum and the cones bright orange or tangerine orange, make the wheelbarrow bright red and its load cream, then add the hanging strap in wood brown.
- 6Optional: add a little light gray shading under the robot and tracks to make them look more solid.
