Girl Reading in a Tree Hammock, Aesthetic Nature Page
Coloring guide
Lying back in a net hammock strung between two big tree trunks, a smiling girl with long hair holds an open book above her face with both hands. She wears a short-sleeved top and rests with her knees bent. Two little birds perch on leafy branches at either side of the top, and puffy cloud-like bushes fill the space behind her. Down at the bottom, tufts of grass and two small flowers sit between the trunks. The crisscross netting of the hammock makes lots of small spaces to fill, which suits steady hands and patient colorers. Soft purples or warm oranges on the net will help the girl's top and the book stand out. This free printable is a calm pick for quiet time or a reading-themed lesson. This fits right in with our Aesthetic coloring pages — see also Kawaii and Advanced Designs.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big sky behind the tree using sky blue, using light back-and-forth strokes and leaving the white clouds untouched.
- 2Color the grass and the bushes at the bottom with forest green and leaf green, adding soft green in lighter patches for depth.
- 3Fill the girl's shirt with rose pink, her jeans with bright blue, and her face, neck and arms with light peach.
- 4Color the girl's hair and the hammock net golden yellow, keeping the small gaps in the net white for a woven look.
- 5Paint the open book tomato red, the two birds bright blue, and the tree branches and trunk warm brown, leaving the bird eyes and the book shine white.
- 6Optional: Add a second layer of darker blue on the jeans and the shadowed side of the hammock to make the drawing pop.
