A smiling cartoon bald eagle sits on a leafy branch, wings stretched wide, holding a waving American flag in one talon. It has big friendly eyes, an open beak, and layered feathers on the chest, wings and tail that break up into fun little sections. The flag has rows of small stars in the corner and wavy stripes. Outline stars are scattered across the night sky behind the bird, and puffy clouds curl along the bottom. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big brown areas: color the branch and the eagle's lower body in medium brown, leaving the white tail feathers and the white flag stripes empty.
- 2Fill the wings and the upper feathers with dark brown, then add the tan inner feathers near the top of each wing.
- 3Color the eagle's beak, stars, and claws in golden yellow, keeping the neck and head feathers white.
- 4Add the red and pale pink flag stripes, leaving the white stripes empty, then fill the flag's corner with royal blue and its tiny stars.
- 5Use leaf green on the leaves and light gray on the lower feathers and tail, keeping the tail's white tips bright.
- 6Optional: Add a sky blue touch to the clouds at the bottom for a fresh, sunny sky.
