Dashing across a grassy hill, this cheerful gnome has a long, floppy pointed hat and a big fluffy beard, and he holds the string of a diamond-shaped kite in one raised hand. The kite floats high in the corner with a tail of little bows. His tunic is belted with a large buckle, and with chunky boots, a wide smile and a round nose he has lots of personality. Behind him are rounded trees, a pointy evergreen, a bush and three puffy clouds. Small flowers and grass tufts dot the ground, so there's plenty to fill in. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big sky areas: color the three clouds and the small cloud on the right with pale blue, leaving the inside of each cloud simple and even.
- 2Color the gnome's hat red, then the kite's top and left sections red as well, keeping the kite's other sections for the next step.
- 3Fill the gnome's jacket, sleeves and the upper body with bright blue, and color the kite's lower sections blue too, leaving the beard and the center of the kite white or lightly shaded.
- 4Color the hill and the grass patch with lime green and leaf green, then add dark green to the pine tree and the bushes, and leaf green to the round tree and left tree.
- 5Use brown for the belt, pants, boots, and shoes, and use peach skin for the hands, fingers and ears. Leave the beard and the small patches of ground near the tree white.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shade of the same color along one side of the hat, jacket, or hill to give a bit of depth.
