Parrot with Spread Wings and Hibiscus, Romero Britto Style
Coloring guide
On a thick branch perches a cheerful parrot with a big curved beak and an open, smiling mouth, wings stretched wide like it's greeting the day. A tuft of feathers sits on its head, and the long tail feathers hang straight down below the branch. Layered feathers fill both wings, so there's lots to color. Around the bird are a large split-leaf monstera leaf, pointed tropical leaves and two big hibiscus flowers in the lower corners, with a few soft clouds peeking out behind the wings. Wide shapes work well for crayons and markers, and the feathers suit kids who like finer detail. Rainbow stripes of red, orange, yellow and blue could go on the wing feathers, with bright pink or yellow for the hibiscus. Download the free PDF and print it for a screen-free activity. This fits right in with our Romero Britto style coloring pages — see also Mandala and Kawaii.

- 2Color the big spread wings sky blue, then add lemon yellow to the feathers near the middle of each wing.
- 3Paint the beak golden yellow and the top crest with golden brown and a few coral red tips.
- 4Color the hibiscus flowers coral red, leaving the small centers and stamens white or lightly tinted.
- 5Fill the leaves with leaf green and the tree branch with warm brown, keeping the background white.
- 6Optional: Add a second slightly darker shade of each color in the shadow areas under the feathers for more depth.
