Kids Watching 4th of July Fireworks From a Brick Ledge

A boy and a girl sit side by side on a low brick ledge with their backs to us, looking up at a night sky full of fireworks. The boy wears a striped short-sleeved shirt and has short hair. The girl has long hair tied with a ribbon, wears a dress with buttons down the back, and holds a small American flag in one hand. Above them a rocket with a pointed tip shoots upward, trailing sparks. Around it are dashed bursts shaped like starbursts, drooping fountains, and small dotted circles. This free page works well for practicing contrast. Try dark blue or purple around the fireworks, then bright reds, yellows, and greens for the bursts, and add stripes and stars to the flag. It is also a nice starting point for talking about how families celebrate the Fourth of July.
