Liberty Bell With Bunting for 4th of July

A big cracked bell hangs from a sturdy wooden beam, held up by two thick wooden posts. Three star-decorated bunting banners drape across the top beam, each with a white star in the middle. The bell has ridged bands near the top and bottom, a large clapper at the base, and a jagged crack climbing up from the lip. A small American flag with rows of tiny stars waves on a pole at the bottom. Three five-point stars rest in the grass along with a few bushes and grass tufts beside the stone bases of the posts. Little hands will find the large open spaces on the bell easy to fill. Try warm bronze or golden brown for the bell, then red, white and blue on the bunting and flag. Free to download and print. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the bell body, rim and bands in warm gold, leaving the thin crack line in the middle of the bell uncolored.
- 2Fill the wooden beam and the two tall posts with wood brown, keeping the background white.
- 3Color the bunting swags in navy blue, leaving the stars white, and add muted red trim along the middle swag.
- 4Color the two hanging straps and the bell yoke in slate gray, then fill the stone bases with light gray.
- 5Fill the flag stripes in flag red, leave the white stripes and the small stars on the flag white, and color the flagpole tip and finial in golden yellow.
- 6Optional: Add light shading along one side of the bell and posts with a slightly darker tone of the same color for depth.
