Little Elf Sitting on a Fireplace Mantel

A small elf sits on the edge of a long mantel shelf above an arched fireplace, with his legs dangling over the front. He wears a pointed cap with a pom-pom on the tip, pointy ears, and a tunic with a zigzag collar and jagged hem. His pants have ragged cuffs and his shoes curl up at the toes. He tilts his head to one side with a curious look. Below the shelf, a rounded fireplace opening holds a single flame on a flat bed of logs or ashes, with plenty of empty space around it. Try red and green for the elf's outfit, then use warm yellows, oranges, and reds for the fire. The big blank fireplace wall is a good spot to practice shading brick or stone with crayons. This printable page works well for a quiet holiday afternoon at home or in the classroom.
