Man Ringing Big Bell While Boy Reaches Out

A man in old-fashioned clothes leans hard to one side as he pulls a rope attached to a large bell hanging in a wooden bell tower. He wears a ruffled neckcloth, a jacket with pocket flaps, knee breeches, long stockings and buckled shoes, and his long hair is tied back with a small bow. A young boy on the left steps up a staircase with both hands stretched toward him, looking worried. On the floor you can see a tricorn hat, a pair of round glasses, a quill pen with little dots of ink, and a few loose papers. A stool and a hanging coat sit in the background. Try coloring the bell in shades of bronze and gold, then ask kids to guess why the man is ringing it so urgently. This printable scene works well for a 4th of July history lesson.
