Mickey Mouse as King Sitting on a Rock by the Sea

Mickey Mouse sits on a big rock that rises out of the water, wearing a pointed crown and holding a tall scepter with a star-shaped top. His eyes are closed and his mouth is open in a happy smile, and one hand rests on his hip. He has on shorts with two round buttons, big shoes and gloves. A fish pokes its head out of the waves at the lower left with its tongue showing, and another fish tail or fin splashes up on the right. Behind him a large sun sends out straight rays over the water, and two small hills sit along the horizon. The wavy water lines give plenty of room for blues and greens. Try coloring the sun and its rays in layers of yellow and orange, then talk with your child about why the crown and scepter might be gold. The large open areas suit crayons well, and the crown points and ripples are good practice for smaller details.
