Rowboat Adventure with Calico Critters Mouse and Bunny
Coloring guide
Side by side in a wooden rowboat, a little mouse and a big-eared bunny each hold an oar and paddle across a calm pond. Both are smiling, and the mouse's long tail curls out behind it. A dragonfly hovers in the upper left corner, tall cattails and grass fill both sides of the page and small ripples circle the boat. Up front, lily pads float beside two blooming water lilies. The boat's planks and big lily petals are easy spaces for little hands, and the whiskers and ripples are there for older kids who like finer detail. Soft gray or light brown works for the mouse, with pale pink inside the bunny's ears, warm tan on the boat and bright pink on the lilies. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the bunny and the mouse: color the bunny's head, body and paws with honey orange, and the mouse's head and body with light gray, leaving the eye whites and little shine spots white.
- 2Fill the rowboat with caramel brown, going darker with dark brown along the bottom and inside edges of the boat to add depth.
- 3Color the bunny's inner ears and the mouse's inner ears with blush pink, and add cream on the bunny's muzzle and the mouse's muzzle and belly.
- 4Paint the water with sky blue and light blue around the boat and oars, and use pale blue for the dragonfly wings.
- 5Color the lily pads with leaf green, the grass and bushes with forest green and pale green, and the cattails with caramel brown.
- 6Finish the lily flowers with soft pink and rose pink, add golden yellow to the centers, and leave the background gaps white. Optional: add a little darker shading under the boat edge for extra depth.
