Sideways Olaf (Frozen) Near the Fir Trees

Here Olaf is turned on his side, with his big open-mouthed head at the left and his round snowball body stretching off to the right. One twig arm reaches into the air and his little feet poke out below. The coal-style buttons on his body are good spots for dark colors. Tall fir trees with jagged, layered branches line the left edge, along with a few thin twigs. A single flower bud with long pointed leaves sits beside him. In the top right corner his carrot nose is drawn inside a small round outline, and short wavy lines across the page stand in for snowy ground. Soft blues and lavender would suit the snow marks, deep green the trees, and bright orange the carrot. Big shapes keep it easy for young kids, and the tree details give older kids more to do. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big round body parts of Olaf in coral red, leaving the small white shine spots on the cheek and belly white.
- 2Fill the fir tree branches on the left with forest green for the darker needles, then add lime green and light green for the lighter ones.
- 3Color the thin top branch, the stick arm, and the small foot in medium brown, and use dark brown for the darker parts of the branches.
- 4Paint the small nose piece in burnt orange and the wreath in bright green with a golden yellow center at the top right.
- 5Finish the bud and the tiny flower on the right in lemon yellow and golden yellow, and leave the background white. Optional: add a few darker strokes of forest green or dark brown to the needles for depth.
