Sarcophagus Hide-and-Seek With a Peeking Mummy

An upright Egyptian sarcophagus has its lid tipped open, and a cheerful little mummy is looking out from inside. His bandaged head and big round eyes show over the rim, and two small hands grip the edge like he's playing hide-and-seek. A friendly cobra sits on top of the lid, which also has striped headdress lines. The front of the case is covered in patterns: a winged scarab beetle with a sun disk, a zigzag triangle border, horizontal bands, and a center panel with lotus flowers and round circles. The shapes are bold and easy to follow for small hands, and older kids will enjoy filling in the patterns. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big blue areas: color the lid, the upper and lower body of the sarcophagus, and the lower side panels in royal blue, leaving the eye whites white.
- 2Fill the mummy's bandages, paws, and the rim around the face with cream beige so the peeking mummy stands out.
- 3Color the stripes, wings, scarab beetle, round medallion, and the cobra head in golden yellow.
- 4Add the bright red triangles along the middle band and the teal green strip down the center of the base.
- 5Finish with the lotus flowers and round dots in golden yellow and bright red, and add the dark gold rim details. Optional: add a little shading with a slightly darker tone near the edges for depth.
