Roaring Leaf-Winged Skylanders Dragon
Coloring guide
This fierce little dragon charges across the page, mouth wide open in a big roar, and kids will love the attitude. It has two large crescent-shaped horns, some smaller spiked horns, and a row of triangle plates across its forehead. Layered leaf-shaped wings sit on its back, and a big curly, feathered tail with tiny spikes sweeps out behind. The clawed feet are mid-stride, and shaggy tufts show on the legs. With no background, young artists can concentrate on the character. Fresh greens for the leafy wings and tail, with bright orange or yellow horns, will make the horns stand out. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big body areas: color the chest, legs, paws and head in tomato red, leaving the claws for later.
- 2Fill the large horns, ear spikes and the spikes on the head with golden yellow, and color the spikes above the eyes with light gold.
- 3Color the tail fronds: use bright orange for the lower frond, and bright green, light green and golden yellow for the upper feathers and spikes, keeping the tail curl highlight white.
- 4Color the wings with bright green, teal green, medium green and dark teal, working from the edges toward the middle of each leaf, and add the brown tail spike at the tip.
- 5Paint the claws, the belly and the lower teeth cream white, color the inside of the mouth maroon, and leave the upper teeth and eye whites white.
- 6Optional: Add a darker shade of tomato red along the edges of the body and a little extra dark teal in the shadowed parts of the wings for depth.
