Smiling Bunny, Butterfly and Ferns in the Forest

In the middle of the page a smiling rabbit sits upright, head tilted up toward a butterfly fluttering near the top corner. The bunny has tall ears, big round eyes, long whiskers, a fluffy chest and a little tuft of tail peeking out behind. Two large fern fronds with detailed leaves rise on either side, and small flowers with round petals and leafy stems fill the bottom corners. The butterfly has a smiling face, curled antennae and wings decorated with circles that are fun to fill in. Big open shapes on the bunny suit younger kids, while the ferns give older children more to work on. Soft gray or warm brown for the rabbit, orange and yellow for the butterfly and fresh greens for the ferns would be lovely. A calm choice for a quiet afternoon. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the bunny's body, head, ears and paws in warm brown, leaving the cream belly and the small white highlight on the cheek unpainted.
- 2Fill the inner parts of both ears with soft pink, then color the big ferns on each side in forest green.
- 3Add light green to the smaller fern leaves and the grass at the bottom, and paint the fluffy bush beside the bunny in cream.
- 4Color the butterfly: sky blue for the left wing, lavender purple for the right and lower wings, golden yellow for the head and carrot orange for the body.
- 5Leave the flower petals and centers white, then add a touch of pale mint to a few grass blades near the bottom right.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of warm brown along the bunny's shadow side and darker green on the fern leaves for depth.
