Up on top of three round hay bales stands a happy young goat, head tilted and mouth open in a big grin. It has curved horns, floppy ears, a little beard, fluffy tufts of fur, and a small upturned tail. Every bale has a swirly spiral pattern and scruffy straw edges, and a few blades of grass poke out near the bottom. Behind the goat is a barn wall made of tall vertical planks, a horizontal beam, and a door brace on the right. Between the straw texture and the plank lines, there's lots to fill in, whether you're using crayons, markers, or colored pencils. Golden yellow and warm tan fit the hay, soft brown or gray the goat, and reddish-brown the barn boards. Print the free PDF at home to add to your collection. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the barn walls and background with barn red, leaving the wooden beams and posts for later.
- 2Fill the wooden beams, door brace, hinges and posts with tan.
- 3Color the three hay bales with golden yellow, following the spiral lines and leaving small gaps for light.
- 4Fill the baby goat's body, face, legs, tail and tuft of hair with cream, keeping the eye whites and teeth white.
- 5Color the inside of the ears with light pink, the horns with medium brown, and the hooves with dark brown.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker brown to the wood edges and hay shadows to make the scene pop.
