In the middle of this page, a happy little bear peeks over the edge of a brick-patterned basket in a big striped hot air balloon. Four smaller balloons float around it, each with its own look: a row of hearts, zigzag chevrons, a pennant-style flag border and big polka dots. Three little birds flutter close by, fluffy clouds drift across the sky, and a sunny sun with long rays shines in the top corner. Large and small shapes together suit kids at different skill levels, so younger ones can fill in the big balloon while older ones tackle the zigzags and dots. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big central balloon: color the middle panels sky blue, the right-side panels leaf green, and the left panels and scalloped band golden yellow, with coral red and bright orange on the outer edges.
- 2Color the top left balloon with bright orange, rose red, and sky blue panels, adding pale blue and ice blue to the heart rows and leaving the hearts white.
- 3Fill the right balloon with coral red and golden yellow panels, using leaf green on its lower sides and sky blue on the top edge, keeping its fringe bright.
- 4Color the bottom left balloon with golden yellow and slate gray zigzag stripes, add olive green on the lower band, and use sky blue for the bottom panel.
- 5Color the bear and its basket in tan brown, and fill the bottom right balloon with lavender purple, leaving the polka dots white. Keep the gaps between the ropes white.
- 6Optional: finish with a golden yellow sun, pale blue clouds, and sky blue, golden yellow, and coral red birds. Leave the background white.
