Above a big Easter egg in a spring garden, a smiling butterfly flutters by with large patterned wings. The egg rests in the grass, decorated with bands of dots, zigzag lines and three round flowers across its middle. A tulip rises behind it on each side, and next to each tulip is a daffodil with a little center. Small blossoms and grass tufts fill the bottom corners. The butterfly's wings are made of circles, scallops and rounded sections in different sizes, which makes them good for careful coloring practice. Orange and yellow suit the wings well, and soft purple and pink on the zigzag stripes help the egg stand out from the green grass and leaves. Print the free PDF at home for some screen-free time. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big egg: color the top cap and bottom section sky blue, the zigzag and top bands light green, the dotted bands lemon yellow, and the middle section baby pink. Leave the dots and the flower petals white.
- 2Color the three flowers on the egg with white petals and give each center a lemon yellow dot.
- 3Paint the tulips baby pink and the daffodil petals lemon yellow, then fill the daffodil centers with tangerine orange.
- 4Color the butterfly wings with sky blue, baby pink, and lemon yellow spots, add a lemon yellow and tangerine orange body, and keep the eyes white.
- 5Fill the grass and leaves with grass green and light green, then color the bottom flowers lavender purple and pale blue.
- 6Optional: add a little shading with a slightly darker shade of each color along one side of the egg and the petals for a bit more depth.
