Parked inside an open fire station bay is a cheerful fire truck with big round eyes and a friendly grin, and a young firefighter stands proudly next to it. The boy has on a helmet and a full turnout coat and pants with reflective stripes. One hand is tipped to his helmet in a salute, and the other rests on his hip. Behind the truck a coiled hose hangs on the wall and a tall ladder leans in the corner. A badge with a helmet and crossed axes sits above the doors, and a small bell tower rises from the roof. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the sky background and the cloud-free sky areas with sky blue, then fill the big tree and bush foliage with leafy green and forest green in the darker shadows.
- 2Fill the brick walls of the station, the gable, and the side walls with brick red, leaving the cream trim around the windows, roof edges, and garage arch as white or cream.
- 3Color the fire truck's front, roof lights, grille and emblem on the gable with fire red, keeping the windshield and the two big eyes white so they pop.
- 4Fill the garage door and inside walls with medium gray, the lower garage panels with light gray, and the hose, ladder and floor details with charcoal gray.
- 5Color the firefighter's face peach skin, his pants mustard yellow, his boots charcoal gray, and the bell golden yellow, then add the driveway in light gray.
- 6Optional: add a little darker shading under the truck, along the garage edges, and on the bushes to make the picture look more three-dimensional.
