Ghost Hugging a Smiling Pumpkin

Coloring guide
Big round eyes and a wide happy smile make this little ghost easy to love. It holds a plump pumpkin right against its body, with two small hands gripping the sides. The pumpkin has a curly stem, rounded ridges, closed happy eyes, a tiny triangle nose and a wide grin, so it's every bit as cheerful as its friend. The ghost's sheet-like body ends in soft wavy folds, and a few tufts of grass and four simple leaves are scattered around the base. Bold lines and large spaces suit preschoolers and early elementary kids still working on crayon control. Orange for the pumpkin, green for the stem and grass, and a pale blue or lilac wash for the ghost would all work nicely. Free to print for a Halloween party table or a slow afternoon. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Leave the ghost's body, both hands, the eye whites and the little curl on the stem white, keeping their black outlines.
- 2Color the big pumpkin body and its sides with light orange, covering the round shape and lower parts.
- 3Fill the leaves on the left and the top edges of the pumpkin with light orange, and use deep orange on the leaves on the right side and the top left edge.
- 4Color the pumpkin's smiling mouth, triangle nose and the bottom leaf with golden yellow.
- 5Color the pumpkin stem and its base with leaf green, then fill the ghost's open smile with bubblegum pink.
- 6Optional: add a few light strokes of deeper orange on the pumpkin's sides to give it a little shading.
