Moonlit Lake Ghost Rowing a Little Boat

Coloring guide
Big sparkly eyes and an open smile light up this cheerful little ghost as it sits in a wooden rowboat, holding a long paddle and gliding over a calm lake at night. A small lantern with a lit candle rests at the back of the boat. Two fish leap out of the water with splashes on either side, and lily pads float near the bottom of the page. Across the water are a cabin with a little dock, pine trees, distant mountains, a crescent moon, stars and clouds, with cattails and reeds framing the edges. This free printable mixes large areas for little hands with finer details for older kids. A pale blue or lavender ghost and a warm yellow lantern flame will stand out against a deep blue night sky. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the moon in soft yellow, then fill the lake water and the sky-side ripples in sky blue.
- 2Color the distant mountains in royal blue and the pine trees and shore bushes in deep teal green and light green.
- 3Fill the wooden boat with warm brown on the hull and boat sides, and use golden tan for the oar, the lantern post and the boat rim.
- 4Color the lily pads and the grass tufts in grass green, the shore rocks in cool gray, and the cabin roof in charcoal gray.
- 5Add the lantern top and base in cherry red and the cloud at the top in navy blue, leaving the ghost, its arm and robe white.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading on the boat hull and the bottom of the lake water to make the scene feel more moonlit.
