Smiling Gil the Merboy With Hands on Hips

A cheerful young merboy grins with his mouth wide open, looking like he just heard good news. He has big round eyes with shiny highlights, raised eyebrows, a tiny curved nose and a tall swoop of spiky hair on top. Both hands rest on his waist, and you can see his belly button. Below that, his tail curls out to the side and ends in a wide fin. The tail is covered in blobby, rounded patches that make it a fun part to color. This looks like Gil from Bubble Guppies. The large open areas on the face and hair are easy for small hands, and the tail suits markers or crayons. Try coloring the tail patches in two or three alternating shades, then ask your child to describe the pattern they made.
