Smiling Gingerbread Men Among Peppermint-Roofed Candy Houses

Several smiling gingerbread men stand among tall gingerbread houses covered in candy details. Each house has a pointed roof edged with a rope-style trim and dripping icing along the eaves. The roofs are covered in rows of round swirled peppermint candies set in scalloped shapes. Narrow arched windows are outlined with dotted bead borders, and a few have a small peppermint swirl above them. Striped candy canes lean against the walls, and a row of gumdrops lines two of the roof ledges. The gingerbread men have buttons down their fronts, and one near the lower left has a cracked arm. The whole picture sits inside a patterned border. The dense, repeating shapes suit colored pencils or fine-tip markers. Try giving the peppermint swirls alternating red and green, then keep the gingerbread men a warm brown so they stand out against the busy roofs.
