Peekaboo Skeleton Popping Out of a Jack-o'-Lantern

A little skeleton rises out of a big carved pumpkin with both hands on the rim, like it's playing peekaboo. It's wearing the pumpkin's own lid tilted on its head as a hat, and it has big round eyes, a wide grin and one single tooth. You can see its ribs on the chest. The jack-o'-lantern below has triangle eyes, a triangle nose and a big toothy smile. Two smiling bats fly in the top corners, and three leaves rest at the bottom: one maple-style and two oak-style. Bold lines and large shapes make this free printable a good fit for preschoolers and early elementary kids, and it would suit a Halloween party table or classroom. Orange and yellow work for the pumpkin, gray or purple for the bats, and reds and browns for the autumn leaves. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the pumpkin body, its rim, and the hat in pumpkin orange, leaving the skeleton's skull and bones white.
- 2Fill the jack-o'-lantern's two triangle eyes, nose, and big grin with golden yellow.
- 3Darken the inside edge of the pumpkin rim behind the skeleton with burnt orange, and color the left autumn leaf in pumpkin orange.
- 4Color the bats with royal purple wings and light lavender heads, and paint the right autumn leaf autumn red.
- 5Add the pumpkin stem in leaf green, the skeleton's open mouth in salmon pink, the neck in cool gray, and the three small bottom leaves in golden yellow.
- 6Optional: add a slightly darker line along the pumpkin edges with a deeper orange for a bit of depth, and keep the eye whites, teeth, and hands white.
