Wearing a vented safety helmet, a cheerful cartoon skeleton pedals a bicycle down a curved path with big round eyes and a full set of teeth. The ribcage, arm bones and hands on the handlebars are drawn in clear, bold lines, so kids can see how the bones fit together. The park behind the rider has two leafy trees with sleepy little faces, a few bushes, small grass tufts and three puffy clouds. The bike itself has spoked wheels, pedals and a chain guard, which keeps older kids busy, while the wide open areas suit younger colorers. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big background: color the sky clouds pale blue, then fill the tree leaves, bushes, and grassy hills with grass green and forest green.
- 2Color the tree trunks chocolate brown, then leave the background spaces between trees and bushes white.
- 3Paint the helmet sky blue and the blue parts of the bike (handlebar, stem, seat) royal blue.
- 4Color the bike frame and front fork tomato red, and fill the bike wheel spokes golden tan.
- 5Color the tires and chainring silver gray and charcoal gray, then keep the skeleton bones cream white.
- 6Optional: add a little darker shading under the helmet and along the bike frame for depth, and keep the rib highlights white.
