Garden Scene with Three Smiling Strawberries and Blossoms

Three happy strawberries hang from curved stems in this sweet garden scene, each with round eyes, rosy cheeks and a little smile. The biggest one is in the middle with a berry on either side. All of them wear a leafy green cap and have a pattern of tiny seed ovals to color. Up above, three blossoms with scalloped petals and dotted centers sit among large, veined, saw-edged leaves. Down at the bottom you'll see more broad leaves and a bumpy mound of soil. Seeds and flower centers are good for careful coloring practice, and the big leaves are perfect for wide, easy strokes. Bright red berries, deep green leaves, and soft pink petals around yellow centers would look lovely. This free page works well for a classroom project or a weekend craft. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big leaves and stems: color the bottom left and bottom right leaves, the top left leaf and the upper left leaf in leaf green, leaving the leaf veins white.
- 2Fill the three strawberries in strawberry red, leaving the eyes, cheeks and little seed dots white.
- 3Color the green leafy caps on top of each strawberry and the small leaves beside the flowers in leaf green.
- 4Add the green stems and branches that connect the strawberries and flowers, using leaf green.
- 5Color the center of the top right flower in golden yellow, and leave all flower petals and the background white.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker red shading on the lower part of each strawberry for depth.
