This tractor has a big friendly face on its cab and holds a front-loader bucket heaped with dirt way up in the air. It has two large treaded wheels, a round headlight on the side of the grille and a curved fender over the back tire. A pile of rounded rocks sits in the lower left corner, and an empty wheelbarrow waits on the right. Fluffy bushes and a few grass tufts fill in a simple outdoor field behind. Thick, clear outlines and large open shapes make it easy for little hands to stay inside the lines. Red or green for the tractor, brown for the dirt and gray for the rocks work well. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big bucket, the lift arm, and the wheelbarrow body in golden yellow for the bucket and arm, and bright blue for the wheelbarrow.
- 2Color the tractor body and cab roof in tractor red, and fill the cab windows and the face window in pale sky blue, leaving the eye whites, headlights and the highlight near the steering column white.
- 3Fill the grass, bushes and right-side ground patches in grass green, then color the rocks in light gray.
- 4Color the big tires, the tire treads and the tractor front and grille areas in charcoal gray, and the hubs and rock shadows in steel gray.
- 5Optional: Add a touch of darker shading on the rocks and tire edges for depth, and leave the dirt pile in the bucket as the final detail.
