Soldiers Raising the American Flag on Rocky Hill

Soldiers Raising the American Flag on Rocky Hill coloring page

Coloring guide

Five soldiers in helmets and field gear work together to push up a tall flagpole on a rough, rocky hilltop. The pole slants across the page from the lower right to the upper left, where a large American flag ripples in the wind with a field of small stars and wavy stripes. Some soldiers reach up with open hands while others lean forward and brace their legs against the broken ground. You can see belts, pouches, and rolled sleeves on the uniforms, plus jagged rocks and a few splintered sticks at the bottom. The flag is a great spot to practice careful stripe work with red and white, and the stars are small enough for a sharp pencil. Try olive green and khaki for the uniforms, then gray and brown for the rocks. It also pairs well with a short Fourth of July talk about teamwork and the flag.
