Spotted Dog Meets Two Little Bugs and a Bee

A big spotted dog with floppy ears and a studded collar leans forward on its hind legs, smiling down at two small bugs standing on the ground. The bugs have antennae, round eyes, little wings and big shoes. One rests a hand on its chin as if it is thinking, and the other waves a bit as it walks. Above them a fuzzy striped bee flies with its wings spread and small buzz lines trailing behind. A few pebbles are scattered along the ground. The large spots on the dog and the wide open wings give lots of room for crayons or markers. Try coloring the bee in classic yellow and black, then ask kids to pick a different pattern for each bug and the dog's spots. This printable page also works well for a short talk about friendly meetings between animals and insects.
