Squirtle, Bulbasaur and Charmander Pokémon Playtime

Squirtle is flat on its back in mid-air and laughing, curly tail looping underneath. Two long vines from Bulbasaur's bulb reach up toward it, so it seems Bulbasaur has just tossed Squirtle skyward. Down at the bottom left, Bulbasaur grins widely and shows off the spots on its back. On the right, Charmander has its mouth open and one arm stretched out, tail curling up behind. The top left corner holds a tiny silhouette of all three friends. With a plain white background, kids get to pick every color themselves. Outlines are bold and the shapes are big, which works well for preschool and early elementary ages. Light blue for Squirtle's skin and warm brown for its shell is a good start, then teal and green on Bulbasaur and bright orange on Charmander. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big Charmander body parts: color the orange body, arms, legs and tail with tangerine orange, leaving the belly unfilled for now.
- 2Fill the Squirtle parts next: use sky blue for the head, arms, tail curl and fins, keeping the eye whites clean.
- 3Color the Bulbasaur body and feet in mint green, then add the leaf bulb and leaves in leaf green.
- 4Use pale yellow for the Squirtle shell plates and the Charmander belly, and chestnut brown for the lower Squirtle shell.
- 5Add the open mouths in coral pink and rose red, with dark maroon inside Bulbasaur's mouth, and leave the teeth white.
- 6Finish with forest green spots on Bulbasaur and the small vine tip in leaf green. Optional: add a little darker shading along the edges for depth.
