Layered Strawberry Shortcake on a Plate with Fork

Coloring guide
A tall wedge of layered shortcake sits on a round plate, ready for color. Three dotted sponge layers are stacked with sliced strawberries between them, and a swirl of whipped cream on top holds one whole strawberry with a leafy green cap. Three more strawberries are around the plate: two cut in half and one whole with its leaves. A little fork rests at the front. Seeds on the berries and the speckled cake texture give kids lots of small spots to fill, which suits steady hands and anyone who likes detail. Golden yellow for the sponge, red and pink for the berries, and creamy white or pale pink for the whipped swirls would taste, well, look right. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the plate and its rim with sky blue, leaving the inner cream areas alone.
- 2Fill the three sponge layers of the cake with butter yellow, keeping the thin cream filling lines white.
- 3Color the strawberries: the big top berry and the bottom strawberries in strawberry red, the slices in bright coral and soft salmon.
- 4Color the green leaves on the top and bottom-right strawberries with leaf green.
- 5Color the fork in silver gray, keeping the whipped cream and the background white.
- 6Optional: add a little darker red or gray along the edges of the strawberries and fork for shading.
