Sugar Skull Mermaid Holding a Fish Underwater

A mermaid with long, flowing hair floats underwater and holds a round fish up in one raised hand. Her face is painted like a sugar skull, with a decorated mask around the eyes, small star-like points, swirls, and a dark nose. A large flower sits in her hair by her ear, and she wears a hoop earring. She has a shell-style top, a layered necklace with a small skull at the center, bracelets, and a cuff on one wrist. Patterns and tattoo-like designs cover her arms, and her fish tail shows dots near the bottom. Bubbles of different sizes drift around her. Try coloring the face in bright Día de Muertos shades and keeping the water scene in cool blues and greens, so the skull makeup stands out. This free printable also works well for talking about how Mexican folk art uses decorated skulls.
