Teddy Bear and Hedgehog Pond Picnic, Calico Critters Style
Coloring guide
Two friends, a fluffy bear and a little hedgehog, are sitting side by side on a checkered picnic blanket, each smiling over a sandwich. A woven basket in front holds apples, a bunch of grapes and a few more sandwiches. Behind them the pond is calm, with a duck floating on the water, lily pads with two blooming water lilies, tall cattails on both sides, and tufts of grass and tiny flowers along the shore. The bear's fuzzy fur and the hedgehog's spiky back add lots of texture to color. Golden brown suits the bear, a deeper brown fits the quills, and red and green are good for the apples. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the checkered picnic blanket with tomato red and blush pink squares, leaving the white squares empty.
- 2Color the teddy bear's head, body, ears and arms in caramel brown, keeping the eye shines and the teeth white.
- 3Color the hedgehog's face, belly and paws in peach beige, and its spines in chocolate brown.
- 4Color the duck golden yellow, the lily pads leaf green, the pond water sky blue and the grass lime green.
- 5Fill the picnic basket with caramel brown, then add tomato red and cherry red apples, golden yellow cheese slices and peach beige sandwiches.
- 6Optional: Add a little shading with a slightly darker shade of each color along one side of the bear and hedgehog, leaving highlights white.
