Standing on a grassy cliff edge with both arms flung wide, a boy with a backpack cheers while dozens of tiny round-headed helpers build an arched bridge across the gap. Every little builder has an antenna and a small suit, and they zoom through the air carrying metal bridge panels and beams. A few are already fixing the arch in place. A river winds below past rocks and cliffs toward a waterfall, with mountains, pine trees, clouds and twinkling stars behind. Flowers fill the bottom corner. Kids who like lots of small details will enjoy this free printable. A sunset sky of orange and pink with yellow stars works well, and the bridge panels can be different metallic blues and grays. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with pale blue for the fluffy clouds scattered across the sky, leaving the background sky white.
- 2Color the curved bridge arch chestnut brown, then fill the end blocks and supports at both sides of the bridge with light gray.
- 3Use sky blue for the flowing river and its ripples, teal for the distant hills, and tan for the tall cliff faces on both sides.
- 4Fill the grass, bushes and hills with grass green and lime green, add forest green to the trees, and color the boy's jeans denim blue.
- 5Add bright red to the two flying bridge pieces at the top, royal blue to the backpack and its straps, and orange to the boy's jacket and sleeve, with peach for his face and hands.
- 6Optional: Add a darker shade of each color along one side of the cliffs and bridge arch to give them more depth, and leave small white highlights on the water and the boy's face.
