Young Quarterback Ready to Throw an American Football
Coloring guide
Wearing a helmet with a face mask, this young player draws his right arm back with the football held up by his shoulder, about to throw. His left hand reaches out in front to keep his balance, and he has a small smile. His V-neck jersey has striped sleeves, and he also has pants with knee pads and a side stripe, striped socks and cleats. A few horizontal field lines and little grass tufts sit behind him. Big shapes on the helmet, jersey and ball are simple for small hands, and the pads, laces and socks give older kids some detail to work on. A red jersey and helmet with white stripes and a brown ball with white laces would look sharp. Print this sheet at home for coloring fans of any age. A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- grass green
- royal blue
- light gray
- warm peach
- bright blue
- football brown
- charcoal black
- medium gray
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the jersey, both socks and the long sleeves: color the top and sleeves with royal blue, leaving the white collar trim and sleeve stripes uncolored.
- 2Fill the helmet and the ear piece with bright blue, and keep the helmet's visor bar and highlight stripe white.
- 3Color the grass stripes across the background with grass green, and leave the thin field lines white.
- 4Use light gray for the pants, knee pads and thigh pads, then charcoal black for both shoe soles and toes.
- 5Color the skin areas (face, neck, arm, hand, forehead and ears) with warm peach, and fill the football with football brown, leaving the laces white.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading to the shadowed sides of the pants and the lower sleeves to make the drawing feel more three-dimensional.
