A cheerful zombie kid with torn clothes, messy tufts of hair and a big toothy grin has just thrown a stick, and an excited puppy is leaping up to catch it. The pup has floppy ears, an open smiling mouth and a little tag on its collar. It all happens in a backyard with a wooden picket fence, a doghouse on the right, a few bushes behind the fence and grass tufts across the lawn. The ragged patches on the zombie's shirt and pants are fun to color, and the simple bold outlines work for younger kids and older ones. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the wooden fence with light tan and the doghouse walls with butter yellow, leaving the gaps between the pickets white.
- 2Color the bushes on the left, right and behind the fence with grass green and leaf green.
- 3Paint the puppy's body, head, ears and paws with golden orange, then add its tail and muzzle in cream.
- 4Color the zombie boy's shirt with sky blue, his pants with chocolate brown, and his arms, hands and ankles with lime green; add navy blue to the left and right sneakers.
- 5Finish with the stick in chocolate brown, the puppy's collar in cherry red and tag in mustard yellow, the tongue in rose pink, and the doghouse door in charcoal gray; keep the eye whites and shoe soles white.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes on the puppy and the shirt to make the colors look more shaded.
