Heading straight toward you, a smiling zombie boy wears a backpack and holds up a shiny apple in one hand. Messy hair, an exposed brain patch, a ripped shirt and shorts and patchy skin make him a spooky-but-friendly character. A yellow-style school bus is parked on the left behind him, and a little schoolhouse with a clock, a bell above the double doors and a pitched roof stands on the right. Two more zombie kids with backpacks, a girl with pigtails and a boy, wait near the entrance. Bushes, grass tufts and a puffy cloud fill out the scene. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big background areas: color the sidewalk, road and steps in pale gray, and the school brick wall in brick red.
- 2Fill the bus body and roof in golden yellow, then color its windows light blue and leave the grille white.
- 3Color the boy's skin peach, his hair chestnut brown, and his shirt bright red, keeping the eye whites white.
- 4Add royal blue to the shorts, backpack and shoes, and use navy blue for the boy's shoe details.
- 5Color the apple bright red, the bushes and grass grass green, and the clock bell golden yellow, leaving the clock face and cloud white.
- 6Optional: add a few lighter cream patches on the boy's face and arm and a little darker shading under the bus for depth.
