Underwater Anime Style Mermaid Swimming with a Baby Sea Turtle

Coloring guide
In this detailed underwater scene, an anime-style mermaid with long, wavy hair swims alongside a happy baby sea turtle. She wears a starfish hair clip, a beaded necklace, a seashell top and a shell-and-bead belt, and her fish tail is covered in scales and ends in a flowing fin. All around you'll find branching coral, wavy seaweed, bubbles, small tropical fish, a scallop shell, a starfish and spiral shells on the seafloor. A sandcastle with tall towers sits in the upper right corner. Thin lines and varied shapes make it a good pick for kids who like detail. Soft purples and teals suit the tail scales, and greens and warm browns work well for the turtle shell. Print or download it free for a screen-free activity at home. Looking for more? A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big water background: fill the open water areas around the mermaid and turtle with pale blue, and use sky blue for the deeper water near the corners and the sea floor edges. Leave the bubbles white.
- 2Color the mermaid's tail with mint green for the big fins and turquoise for the scales, working from the top of the tail down to the tips.
- 3Fill the mermaid's skin with peach skin, then paint her long hair coral red, leaving the highlights white where the strands catch the light.
- 4Color the turtle: chocolate brown for the shell, leaf green for the flipper, and pale yellow for its head and face. Keep the eye whites and the sparkle spots white.
- 5Add the seashells in lavender purple, orchid purple and rose pink, then the starfish, sandy seabed and sandcastle in pale yellow and the small tube corals in orange.
- 6Optional: Add a little shading with a slightly darker shade of each color along the edges of the tail and the turtle shell to make them look rounded.
